A traditional start to our trip - day one

After arriving at the Tokyo Park Hotel at around 4:30pm we all managed to have a little rest before getting ready for our first official outing of the tour.

Our generous hosts from Zennoh met us at the hotel to guide our short walk to dinner. We were spoilt with an amazing traditional Japanese four course feast.

The entree included radish, tofu and vegetables, which everyone enjoyed trying to eat with chopsticks. Main course included steamed grain fed pork with steamed Japanese vegetables. Next we had rice and miso, followed by sorbet for desert.

It was interesting to hear about the pork delicacy in Japan which is fed with feed barley and wheat from Western Australia. We toasted our trip with champagne, which was a gift from Zennoh and local beer and shochu barley spirit was flowing freely all night.

What a great start to our trip!
